Delivering the Infinite Possibilities of Plastic to the World
It has been approximately 150 years since the invention of plastic. This synthetic material, derived from petroleum, has now become an indispensable part of our daily lives, surrounding us in countless forms.
Initially used to create simple everyday items, plastic has evolved—through improvements in materials and processing technologies—into a material capable of producing increasingly complex and precise components.
The history of Muto Seiko began in 1956, when our founder, Shozo Muto, extended the roof of his backyard and installed a single molding machine. Though he did not come from a background in plastic molding, Muto diligently studied and refined his molding techniques through tremendous effort and perseverance.
In 1968, based on the belief that the precision of plastic parts depends on the quality of the mold, he established a mold-making division. This laid the foundation for an integrated production system that starts with molds and extends through molding. Today, this integrated approach includes secondary processes such as painting, printing, and assembly—one of Muto Seiko''''s key strengths.
Even if you''''ve never heard the name "Muto Seiko," there is a good chance you have at least one or two plastic components made by us in your home or daily environment. Our parts are used in video cameras, digital cameras, gaming consoles, printers, medical devices such as blood pressure monitors and glucose meters, various switches and panels in automobiles, electronic pens, and more. Just as plastic can take on infinite shapes through molds, the fields in which we operate are constantly changing and expanding.
We believe it is our mission to create new forms through plastic. In other words, we see our role as connecting engineers—who aspire to create new products—with the people who use those products to enrich their lives.
Plastic continues to evolve, becoming stronger and gaining new properties. At Muto Seiko, we aspire to be the bridge that delivers the infinite possibilities of plastic to the world.
