Method for Measuring Tooth Thickness BPD in Broached Workpieces: ❷ Load Application (Thailand - Samut Prakan)

Technology / product information

Practical procedure for BPD measurement to measure accuracy with a solid feel.

The accuracy of spline holes in broaching is an important factor that determines the fitting performance. Instead of the conventional BBD (Bitween Ball Diameter) measurement, BPD measurement using a pin allows for a more accurate evaluation of the minimum tooth thickness in the work lead direction. This contributes greatly to quality assurance of the target workpiece for broaching.

■Features
BPD measurement is an accuracy evaluation method for optimizing the fitting of spline holes after broaching. In this method, the pin is grounded at the minimum tooth thickness position, allowing for measurements that accurately reflect the actual fitting state. It can also detect minute errors that are often overlooked in conventional BBD measurements, achieving higher quality control.

■Specifications
The process of loading is an important step in performing high-precision BPD measurements. By applying appropriate pressure to the parallel block, a stable state is created in which the pin gauge does not fall off. As shown in the photo, it is important to make sure that the pin does not fall off even if the block shakes while firmly holding the parallel block in your hand. Pressing harder improves repeatability and ensures measurement reliability.

The loading process in BPD measurement is an essential step to improve the accuracy of quality control. This step allows us to further improve the accuracy of spline hole processing and provide reliable products.
