■Features
BPD measurement has the advantage of being able to achieve high accuracy even with inexpensive measuring tools. It can flexibly accommodate different sizes, and notched pins make it easy to measure. However, since it is a task that requires skill, proficiency may affect the measurement accuracy. There are also disadvantages such as the measurement time being longer than with dedicated measuring tools and the inability to use parallel blocks when the BPD is too small.

■Specifications
To measure, first measure the width of the parallel block. For example, if the width is 24.955 mm, calculate the BPD from the formula 34.955 (BPD) = 24.955 + 10.0 (block gauge). This formula makes it easy to derive the required BPD value.

To increase the reproducibility of measurements, it is recommended that multiple operators measure together to minimize human variation. This eliminates errors due to individual skill and increases the reliability of the measurements.

BPD measurement is a simple and accurate evaluation method and plays an important role in the quality control of broached spline holes. By utilizing this method, it is possible to improve product reliability and customer satisfaction.
